The girl with the unpronouncable name
Theatre for a Change uses a uniquely participatory and active approach to equip marginalised communities in Africa with the tools and knowledge to make positive changes to their lives and the lives of those around them. They promote gender rights and sexual and reproductive health.
I was born and raised in London and have worked behind the scenes in commercial theatre for over four years. I most recently worked above the iconic Savoy Theatre coordinating all one off events and private hires across 10 remarkable West End venues. With a growing curiosity about the transformative power of the arts, I approached TfaC in late 2013, on the advice of David Aula, Artistic Director of the wonderful Fallout Theatre, with an interest in witnessing and supporting their work first hand. Six months on I feel privileged to have been welcomed into TfaC's Ghanaian office and will be using this blog to report on the work they are doing as well as my own personal experiences of life in Accra.
The views expressed in this blog are my own and I will endeavour at all times to convey with respect and faithfulness the work of TfaC, their people and their participants.
Thank you for reading.
